In June 2007 Baer Press released an editioned multiple by Seattle based artist Victoria Haven. Haven’s wall mounted sculpture, Iampayingattention, is a single cursive statement in the artist’s handwriting which she created in collaboration with Baer Press and master blacksmith Maria Cristalli. Forged from more than 10 feet of cold-rolled ¼” steel rod and finished with a white plastic coating, this text piece continues Haven’s interest in challenging the viewer’s perspective through the use of multiple dimensions and the open ended nature of this dialogue. With a nod to Bruce Nauman’s famous 1973 exhortation, this work operates as both artist statement and title for her 2007 show at Howard House, Seattle.
